Inspired by the painting by Venetian artist, Francesco Hayez in 1859, this modern reworking explores the passionate embrace of a young couple in the Middle Ages and is widely interpreted as the most passionate kiss ever set to canvas. I have taken the central couple and brought them into a modern day urban setting which has them stood at the bottom of a graffiti covered stairwell. Using many digital techniques, layers and lighting this new twist on Italian Romanticism captures the passionate embrace that spans centuries and is a timeless, powerful and modern image of love.
